Police take delivery of their 3rd Alfa
Bondi Police have just taken delivery of a new Alfa 147
provided by Alfa Romeo Australia and fully decaled as a NSW Police car.
The car will be used by the Bondi Crime Prevention Officer, Constable
Jane Heffernan in her training and information programmes and joins 2
other Alfas (a 156 and a GTV) donated to and currently used by the Bondi
Police.
"The Alfa Romeo has a double benefit for the NSW Police," says
Constable Heffernan. "Firstly with my work it acts as a point of
contact with the public. They want to know why we have an Alfa Romeo and
this initial contact then enables me to talk about crime prevention and
road safety issues. It is remarkable just how many people want to have
a chat when I am in the Alfa and this makes my job so much easier. The
Alfa Romeo is also a very real cost saving for the NSW Police, as it provides
me with transport and frees up a normal police vehicle that can then be
deployed in the front-line battle against crime. Alfa Romeo is making
a very real contribution to the community with the loan of this car."
