Fiat 500 gets into Guinness Book of Records
The Fiat 500, the classic small car which will be reborn in 2008, has entered the Guinness Book of Records with more than 750 ‘Cinquecentisti’ creating the world’s longest one model traffic jam at nearly four kilometres long.
More than 5000 people gathered at the 23rd International Fiat 500 Owners event to watch 500 Fiat 500 cars create the largest 500 sign in the world on the Dei Fiori race track, then, as they were leaving the track, the record for the largest one model traffic jam was smashed.
But this apparently is just a rehearsal - next year is the 50th anniversary of the Fiat 500 and it will be the eve of the launch of the new Fiat 500, so the Fiat 500 Club Italia, organisers of the event are calling on Fiat 500 owners and fans from around the world to start preparing to travel to Italy in 2007 for the biggest Fiat 500 event ever.
“The 500 was and will be made by the people for the people. It is the essence of optimism, passion, style and fun,” says Domenico Romano, honorary president and founder of the club. “The 500 is loved by everyone who enjoys simple things. It is a car that unites the world!”
