Lamborghini sells more cars than ever… again

Automobili Lamborghini have announced their sales figures for 2006 at the Detroit Motor Show and parent company Audi must be happy with the performance – sales up over 30% and 2087 cars built as against a total of 1600 the previous year. This is the largest number of cars built in one year in Lamborghini’s entire history (although they did achieve this last year as well).

In Europe Germany and the UK showed the strongest increase in sales, with increases of 41% (234 cars) and 81% (151 cars) respectively. Overall Europe saw a growth of 50% over the previous year. Italy grew by 37% (134 cars). The US – the main market for the company – saw an increase of 37% with 876 cars sold.

“2006 was an exceptional year. This success was due to the Lamborghini dealer network and our products”, said Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini – the global dealer network has grown from 65 dealers in 2005 to 100 dealers at the end of 2006.

Lamborghini are also claiming another record for 2006 – the greatest number of new models introduced in the company’s history, with the launch of the Gallardo Spyder, the Murcielago LP640 and the LP640 Roadster.
