Alfa adds SatNav to new Ti 166
As we reported here Alfa launched the TI version of the 166 first in New Zealand. Now it is available here in Australia, but with one significant addition to the spec - satellite navigation. One of the constant bugbears we have had with Alfas is the lack of SatNav as an option in what are otherwise lavishly equipped cars. This has been attributed in the main to the in-built system being linked to a Europe-only network not supported in Australia, although this has not prevented other European manufacturers like Audi and BMW (and even Maserati) offering SatNav to their Australian customers.
Also a real plus is the addition of rear parking sensors as standard - previously these were only available as an after-market retrofit. When we reviewed the 166 last year (see our test review in July 2005) we bemoaned the lack of these 'standards' in a flagship model, so we're pleased to see the new 166 is appropriately equipped, as it deserves to be for such an elegant car!
Alfa are launching the higher specification Ti 166 at the same RRP of $84,950 as the current standard version, which the Ti version replaces.
The 166 Ti comes with 18 inch alloy wheels (which have the Ti logo moulded into the aluminium alloy), new style black leather sports seats with the Alfa logo in silver stitching, a fully integrated SatNav system with colour screen, a slide/tilt sunroof, rear parking sensors, and Xenon headlights.
