DVD – Top Gear Back in the Fast Lane

DVD Review – The Best of Series One and Two
Top Gear seems to be about the only show where manufacturers of stupendously expensive cars clearly believe the kudos of their car appearing on the shows outweighs any potential for damage incurred during the making of the show.

Fiat Scudo

The Top Gear team – led by the irrepressible Jeremy Clarkson – burn an awful lot of rubber on an awful lot of expensive machinery. If your penchant is Italian cars (which we’d have to assume it was) you’ll like the head to head of the Pagani Zonda and the Lamborghini Murcielago and the Ferrari 575M up against the Aston Martin Vanquish. As a matter of fact we think you’ll enjoy the rest of it too. Don’t make the same mistake we did and assume it is the entire first two series on one DVD – it is edited highlights grouped into sections – reviews, guest celebrities etc.

There are also some extras on the DVD such as a photo gallery and fact files on the 16 cars featured. For some strange reason (perhaps this is a deliberate mistake?), even though it is the Lamborgini Murcielago that features on the DVD, both the accompanying photos on the Murcielago fact file and the Lamborghini on the cover is in fact the Gallardo. Wonder how many times this has been pointed out to Mr Clarkson et al.

If you’re a fan – and we are – this DVD will make a welcome accompaniment to the current series airing on SBS at 7.30pm on Mondays.
