Autodelta remaps 3.2 V6 Brera Spider and 159 models

London Alfa tuning specialists Autodelta have introduced a new engine remap programme for the Alfa Brera, Spider and 159 3.2 V6 Q4 models to deliver increased power and torque. Autodelta claims available power is increased by 14 bhp (to 274 bhp) and torque increased by 23 lb.ft (32Nm). Acceleration times and ‘optimum’ top speed have also been improved.

Autodelta engineers have been studying the original factory engine control programming on new Alfa 3.2 V6 JTS engine the and have re-programmed the ECU (electronic control unit), making major changes to the electronically controlled continuous cam timing on both the inlet and exhaust camshafts and so improving the car’s throttle behaviour and overall power delivery.

Autodelta also claim to have improved fuel consumption by up to 5 percent during test scenarios with extensive fuelling and ignition timing programme changes. Autodelta development cars in the UK, Germany and Greece were each tested individually, taking into account the specification of the local fuel used and driving environments and local customer requirements.

During extensive testing in Germany, Autodelta found that customers could not reach the ‘optimum’ top speed specified by Alfa, especially in sixth gear. Fifth gear had to be used to deliver the inherent maximum power range as in sixth gear the cars tested could not rev to maximum speed. With the significant increase in torque made available by the new Autodelta re-map programme, they claim it is now possible to reach the manufacturer’s maximum specified speed, even when using the overdrive sixth gear.

In Greece customers requested a very sporty throttle response, and with the market’s inconsistent fuel quality, owners of previous Alfa models had experienced pre-ignition issues. Autodelta engineers had to make sure the new Alfa 3.2 JTS engine would not suffer any of these symptoms.

Another area Autodelta’s engineering team wanted to change was the low rev limit delivered in first gear, set at 6,200rpm, to improve the 0-60 mph (0-100km/h) acceleration. This rev limit has now been raised to 6,800 rpm by the remap programme.

This new remap package demonstrates Autodelta’s ongoing commitment to new 159 and Brera models – in fact the new 348 bhp supercharged Autodelta Brera J5 3.2 is now available to order with deliveries expected soon. The new Autodelta remap programme is now available at Autodelta’s Park Royal, London Headquarters for £395.00 + VAT. Please contact Autodelta for further information.
