Design archive
Italian designers and coachbuilders
Italian car design was not produced by one kind of organisation. The recovered archive mixed independent carrozzerie, industrial design companies and individual stylists, reflecting a system in which manufacturers repeatedly looked outside their own studios for bodies, prototypes and production ideas.
Pininfarina is the first rebuilt subject. The remaining names reproduce the old designers index and stay unlinked until a new article can separate company history, individual authorship and the many cars shaped through collaboration.
Rebuilt design coverage

Archive status. The recovered index used company and individual names side by side. New coverage will identify who designed a car, who engineered or built its body and which attribution is supported by period evidence.
