Maserati: competition ancestry and the grand-touring problem
The recovered Maserati index joins cars built for very different purposes: the A6GCS, elegant 3500 GT, mid-engined Bora and Merak, Biturbo family and successive Quattroportes. Together they trace Maserati's recurring attempt to combine speed, distance and a recognisable sense of occasion.
The GranSport is the first rebuilt destination because it captures a specific transition: a sharper derivative of the Coupé created just before Maserati's next generation of road cars. The remaining names are retained as research leads.
