Maserati: competition ancestry and the grand-touring problem
The recovered Maserati index joins cars built for very different purposes, from the A6GCS and elegant 3500 GT to the Biturbo family and successive Quattroportes. Two live guides now examine how that grand-touring idea evolved from the GranSport into the first-generation GranTurismo.
The GranSport captures a specific transition: a sharper derivative of the Coupé created just before Maserati's next generation of road cars. The GranTurismo guide follows the M145 coupé from its 2007 introduction through 2019, distinguishing its V8 and transmission families before setting out the case for specialist inspection. The remaining names are retained as research leads.
